The UK Government's new investment screening regime under the National Security and Investment Act 2021, has garnered significant interest due to the broad-reaching powers granted to the Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy to review, and potentially intervene in, the acquisition of certain interests in legal entities, assets and intellectual property if the UK Government identifies a national security concern.
