Re: The Protecting Americans From Tax Hikes Act of 2015

On December 18, 2015, after over a year of negotiations, Congress passed, and the President signed into law, The Protecting Americans From Tax Hikes Act of 2015. The Act extends tax provisions that expired in 2014 and makes other expiring provisions permanent. In addition, the Act makes significant changes to the rules relating to real estate investment trusts and the rules enacted by the Foreign Investment in Real Property Tax Act of 1980 that will be relevant to both public and private REITs as well as real estate funds that are utilizing private REITs in their investment structure.
