São Tomé e Príncipe removed from FATF blacklist

15 November 2013

On 18 October 2013, the Financial Action Task Force, the global standard setting body for anti-money laundering and combating the financing of terrorism (AML/CFT), announced that São Tomé e Príncipe is removed from the list of countries that have strategic deficiencies in their AML/CFT standards and that have not made sufficient progress in addressing the deficiencies or have not committed to an action plan developed with the FATF to address the deficiencies.

To ensure that international standards were met, various improvements had to be made and new legislation was adopted. Those topics of specific interest are outlined in this client briefing.
