Peter Theochari is an Associate in the Global Asset Finance Group, based in London. He advises a wide range of clients in the transportation sector including banks, other financial institutions and lessors, with a focus on the financing, leasing and trading of aircraft (fixed wing and rotary), vessels and other transportation assets. Peter also has experience in the repackaging of aviation and maritime assets.
Before joining Clifford Chance, Peter trained at a leading maritime law firm in London. Peter completed a 6-month secondment with Avolon during 2018, working in the transaction legal department.
- Advised DVB and KKR in the acquisition and financing of a portfolio of 37 aircraft from AerCap.
- Advised a leading investment bank in its purchase of a pool of distressed shipping loans from a leading transport finance bank, together with a joint venture between two leading private equity houses.
- Advised a syndicate of 13 banks in relation to the US$1+ billion financing of the purchase of 10 aircraft by AerCap.
- Advised a syndicate of lenders in relation to Elix Aviation Capital's warehouse facility, and Elix's debut $545 million issuance in the aircraft asset backed securitisation market (Prop 2017-1, the first ever all turboprop ABS).
- Advised a syndicate of financiers on a dollar/euro financing of the sale and leaseback of two Airbus A380 aircraft with Emirates, and combined conventional and Islamic financing (ijara, murabaha and mudaraba).
- Advised PK AirFinance in its financing of one Boeing 737-400F, and that aircraft's conversion from a passenger aircraft to a freighter.
- Advised SACE and BNP Paribas (and 3 other mandated lead arrangers) on the export financing of a Fincantieri cruise ship (Hull No 6226) for Silversea Cruises, and related intercreditor arrangements.
