Africa/Emerging Markets

  • Alta Semper on the establishment of its second private equity fund, Alta Semper Growth Fund II targeting $150m for healthcare investment in sub-Saharan Africa​.
  • Apis Partners on the establishment of its private equity fund Apis Growth Fund II ($560m),a multi-strategy fund-of-one with a large US institutional investor ($165m), Apis Growth Markets Fund III ($500m) and Apis Global Growth Fund III ($1bn)​.
  • African Capital Alliance in connection with the formation of Capital Alliance Private Equity IV, a$570 million private equity fund focused on investments in Sub-Saharan Africa and its successor Capital Alliance Private Equity V, targeting $750m​.
  • Africa50 in relation to the establishment of the African Solar Facility ($200m), Nigerian DRE Fund ($200m), Mezzanine Debt Fund ($400m)and various other matters including JV arrangements and a range of internal matters​.
  • Africa Finance Corporation on the establishment of the Infrastructure Climate Resilient Fund targeting $750m, with a $253m first loss commitment from GCF​.
  • Verod Capital Management on the establishment of its private equity fund Verod Capital Growth Fund III ($200m)​.

  • Equistone on the establishment of its private equity fund Equistone Partners Europe Fund VI (€2.8 billion), carried interest structure and on ongoing operational matter across its funds.
  • Five Arrows Managers on the establishment of Five Arrows Debt Partners III (targeting €1.25 billion), Five Arrows Growth Partners II ($1bn) and others.​
  • Primary Capital on the establishment of Primary V and various matters relating toits existing funds​.
  • Investors including HSBC, Mercer Investments, Credit Suisse and BNP Paribas in relation to their investments in various closed-end funds across a variety of asset classes.​

  • Blackstone Strategic Partners on a series of LP-portfolio transactions in connection with the deployment of the $22bn Strategic Partners Fund IX, including large and small portfolio trades and a series of primary transactions.
  • 3i Private Equity on a series of GP-led transactions and liquidity events in relation to the Action continuation fund backed by the world’s leading secondary investors, with transaction values of several billion Euros, including an innovative transaction with GIC, which received shares in 3i Group plc in exchange for interests in the continuation fund worth over $1bn.
  • Partners Group on its investments into a number of European single asset continuation funds including vehicles managed by Rivean and CVC.
  • Autad International Limited on its investment into a large continuation fund sponsored by PAI.
  • Rothesay on the acquisition of a portfolio of fund interest (as part of the £4 billion buy-in with the Cooperative Pension Scheme).
  • Bridgepoint on multiple transactions relating to the sale of Bridgepoint fund interests to a relationship investor.
  • HSBC on a series of large secondary transactions including the sale of a US$1.4 billion portfolio of interests in top tier private equity funds to HarbourVest, as cornerstone investor in a new HSBC secondaries fund, as well as transactions with a number of other large secondary investors.
  • A large bank on the sale of a US$1.4 billion portfolio of LP interests to Ardian.
  • QSuper on the sale of a US$500 million interest in GIP Fund III to a consortium of buyers.
  • Mizuho Bank on its sale of portfolios of fund interests to buyers including Coller Capital and Temasek.
  • Aberdeen Standard Investments on the sale of a large portfolio to a newly established fund vehicle capitalised by Coller Capital and acquisition of secondary stakes in a number of other transactions.
  • Arcus Infrastructure Partners on its €800 million GP-led secondary transaction involving APG and other purchasers.
