Elías Soria is a senior associate in our Madrid office.He specialises in international commercial arbitration and investment arbitration, with a particular focus on disputes arising from the execution of complex and highly technical construction projects, foreign investments and corporate disputes of all kinds. He has more than ten years of experience advising companies in the construction, energy, insurance, sports and real estate sectors in commercial and investment arbitration proceedings before the leading national and international arbitral institutions (ICSID, ICC, UNCITRAL, CIIAM, Madrid Court of Arbitration). He also has extensive experience in court proceedings, representing companies at all levels of the Spanish courts. Elías also teaches Civil Law at Universidad Carlos III de Madrid. |
- A Spanish bank in its capacity as issuer of on-demand performance bonds for an amount exceeding USD 13 million, in ICC arbitration proceedings brought by the contractor in an attempt to prevent their enforcement, in the context of the expansion works at the Port of Montevideo (Uruguay).
- Two construction companies in an UNCITRAL and a CIIAM arbitration arising out of the project for the construction of a motorway in Uruguay.
- Representing a shareholder in an ICC arbitration regarding the construction of a major residential project in the Caribbean.
