CPI article on The Internationalization of Competition Law in Africa

Competition law regimes have proliferated throughout Africa in recent years and have increasingly affected international businesses and interacted with competition authorities in other jurisdictions. This article discusses the role of competition law in economic development and the current state of competition policy within Africa. It provides an overview of regional competition authorities and the position of competition policy within trade agreements affecting African economies. The benefits of cooperation between competition authorities are also discussed along with an outline of the extent of international cooperation with African competition authorities.
