Disability

Inclusion & diversity

At Clifford Chance we believe everyone is entitled to the same equality of opportunity and experience.

No one should ever feel they can't be a full and equal member of the firm or society because of a disability. The breadth of wisdom and perspective that people with different life experiences can bring to our firm across the globe only makes us stronger and better at what we do.

However, to benefit from the perspectives of our people who have disabilities we have to constantly strive to deliver that equality of opportunity and daily experience for them.

#PurpleLightUp

In celebration of International Day of People with Disabilities, our London office took part in #PurpleLightUp by lighting the whole ground floor reception purple, as well as wrapping the reception desks in information about the internationally recognised day.

The day is designed to draw attention to the economic empowerment of people with disabilities, and calls on employees with disabilities, staff networks and allies to drive this social change movement within their own organisations.

Jeremy Connick shares his personal journey of mental health recovery

“At the firm and across the City, people are waking up to the idea that people are not working to the best of their ability, because of things that are happening in their life. It’s just all too much for them to operate to the best of their ability. Whether you care about the business or about the person, it’s essential that we find a way to look after that person.”

Partner Jeremy Connick recently spoke to Law.com about his struggle with mental health.

Basketball with Rebound WA

To raise awareness of the importance of disability inclusion, 14 colleagues from our Perth office took part in a fun wheelchair basketball game hosted by Rebound WA, a charitable association assisting Western Australians living with physical disability to live more active lives. The team was made up of mostly non-wheelchair users.
