However, to benefit from the perspectives of our people who have disabilities we have to constantly strive to deliver that equality of opportunity and daily experience for them.

PurpleSpace

At Clifford Chance, we are committed to creating a truly inclusive workplace in which each and every colleague can thrive. That's why we have signed up to PurpleSpace, the world’s only networking and professional development hub for disabled employees, network and resource group leaders and allies from all sectors and trades.

In December we joined PurpleSpace in their global movement #PurpleLightUp, which celebrates and draws attention to the economic contribution of the 386 million disabled employees around the world on International Day of Persons with Disabilities. Read more about our celebrations below.

Highlights

Clifford Chance and National Autistic Society helps 170 families through a 20-year partnership

In 2020 we celebrated the 20th anniversary of our partnership with the National Autistic Society. The alliance has helped 170 families directly by representing them at education tribunals, and many more indirectly through test cases and by providing information, advice and guidance.

Disability Employment Awareness Month

UNITED STATES

In honour of Disability Employment Awareness Month in the US, we have teamed up with Pure Vision Arts (PVA) to showcase a selection of its resident artists, and bring you this digital exhibition.

Pure Vision Arts is an art studio exhibition space for artists with autism and other developmental disabilities. PVA's philosophy begins with the belief that the arts are not a luxury, but a necessity in a civilized society, and that all people regardless of their disability should have the opportunity to express themselves.

Basketball with Rebound WA

Australia

To raise awareness of the importance of disability inclusion, colleagues from our Perth office took part in a fun wheelchair basketball game hosted by Rebound WA, a charitable association assisting Western Australians living with physical disabilities to live more active lives. The team was made up of mostly non-wheelchair users.

Clifford Chance Enable seeks to provide a safe, inclusive and open environment for colleagues to discuss their lived experience at Clifford Chance. We offer adjustments to the recruitment process to assist candidates with a disability and work with our people to consider adjustments to help them perform in their role.

We have active Enable groups in the UK and Australia, and we are looking to develop this to become a global network during 2021.
