Financial products and services
Acted for a 'big 4' global professional service firm in defence of a shareholder class action arising out of the demise of an ASX-listed forestry company involving allegations of audit negligence across successive accounting periods.*
Represented an ASX-listed financial services firm and its subsidiary in defence of two parallel class actions brought on behalf of investors who held Chapter 2L debentures in a failed property developer.*
Acted in the prosecution of a class action against a financial services company by more than 400 financial planning practices impacted by changes to compulsory practice buy-back arrangements.*
Employment
Defended a novel class action brought against one of Australia's largest fast-food franchisees arising out of an alleged failure to provide casual employees with rest pauses.*
Acted for a global labour hire provider in defence of a major class action concerning blue collar workers engaged to provide labour hire services in the black coal mining sector.*
Acted for an engineering and services provider in defence of a class action involving allegations of underpayment of casual workers engaged by the company.*
Defended a major retail bank in a test case brought by an employee union on behalf of colleagues who claim to have been required to work unreasonable additional hours in excess of contractual and legislative requirements.*
Product liability and negligence
Acted for a global automotive OEM in defence of one of the largest automotive class actions in Australia, involving allegations of vehicle defects across a cohort of several hundreds of thousands of vehicles.*
Acted for a leading Japanese automotive manufacturer in defence of various test cases and threatened class action claims in connection with alleged vehicle defects affecting various different vehicle ranges.*
Acted for a Japanese manufacturer of soy milk in defence of a class action involving alleged adverse health impacts arising from incorrect manufacture.*
Defended class action proceedings brought against the Australian subsidiary of a global pharmaceutical company involving allegations that certain prescription medication caused adverse health and behavioural impacts.*
Litigation Funding
Acted on a challenge to the High Court of Australia on the availability of Solicitors Common Fund Orders in class action litigation before the Federal Court of Australia (judgment reserved).*
Acted on proceedings to restrain an employee union from providing commercial funding in support of a class action claim commenced on behalf of union members.*
