Fayez is a Senior Associate in the London Disputes team specialising in complex commercial litigation and dispute resolution. Fayez has a broad practice with experience in financial services disputes, securities litigation, and group litigation. He regularly acts for large corporates on complex, high-value, cross-border, multi-party litigation involving contractual, tort, and statutory claims.
Fayez's recent experience includes advising Glencore in its defence of claims brought under sections 90 and 90A of the Financial Services and Markets Act 2000, NatWest in its defence of USD LIBOR-related claims arising out of the global financial crisis in 2008, Barclays in proceedings in the Cayman Islands arising out of the collapse of the Saad Group in 2009, and an international technology company in a major dispute that proceeded to a 12-week trial in the English High Court in 2024.
Prior to joining Clifford Chance, Fayez practised at Russell McVeagh, one of New Zealand's leading law firms, where he acted in some of the country's most significant representative proceedings and commercial disputes. Representative proceedings are the New Zealand equivalent of class actions. His experience includes advising Credit Suisse in New Zealand’s first securities representative proceedings, the Earthquake Commission in multimillion-dollar representative proceedings, and funded claimants in complex, cross-border, intended representative proceedings concerning alleged defects in aluminium composite panel cladding. He also acted as junior counsel in proceedings before the New Zealand High Court.
Fayez's practice combines experience acting for both claimants and defendants in litigation, giving him particular insight into litigation strategy.
