Juan Valcárcel is a senior associate in our Madrid office.
He specialises in advising on M&A, corporate restructurings and general corporate matters, across a broad range of sectors, with particular expertise in energy and insurance.
On the energy sector, he works with corporate clients, private equity firms and sovereign funds on acquisitions, sales and joint ventures for asset development and operation, particularly in the renewable energy market.
On the (re)insurance sector, he advises on acquisitions and divestments, bancassurance agreements, portfolio transfers, distribution and agency agreements, joint ventures, and regulatory matters.
Alongside his legal practice, Juan is a professor at Comillas – ICADE, where he regularly lectures on the Legal Framework for Businesses.

- Grenergy on the sale to ContourGlobal (KKR) of the first three phases of the world's largest energy storage project, Oasis de Atacama .
- Assicurazioni Generali on the acquisition through a competitive process of Liberty Seguros and its Portuguese, Irish and UK operations for c. 2,3 EUR billion.
- Norges Bank Investment Management on their acquisition via auction process of a 49% interest in a 1.3 GW portfolio of solar plants and onshore wind farms in Spain from Iberdrola and long-term alliance for the development and operation of renewable assets.
