Clifford Chance's leading position in synthetic securitisation and credit risk transfer markets was recognised at the SCI Capital Relief Trade Awards ceremony on 20 October. Clifford Chance acted as drafting counsel on the transactions coming both first and second in each of the 'Transaction of the Year', 'North American Transaction of the Year' and 'Innovation of the Year' categories, and also advised on the transaction coming second in the Impact Deal of the Year' category. Beyond these individual transactions, the firm also advised on the Bank of Montreal and Santander transactions for which they won 'Contribution to North American CRT' and 'Issuer of the Year' respectively, as well as transactions for Barclays which received an honourable mention in the Issuer of the Year' category. Commenting on Clifford Chance's activity over the past year, SCI commended the firm for "retaining its position as the dominant law firm in both the European and North American CRT markets, acting as originator and drafting counsel on the vast majority of deals, across the full range of asset classes, jurisdictions and legal structures".
London Partner Jessica Littlewood was also honoured with the prestigious 'Personal Contribution to the Industry' award. Jessica has worked in the industry for 24 years and within that time has won praise for her knowledge, expertise and professionalism within the capital relief trades sector. Jessica commented: “It’s a real honour to win this award. It’s very nice to have been recognised by the industry.”
