German Government introduces draft bill to enable CCS – New opportunities on the horizon for project developers and investors

The German Government has recently announced that it intends to enable Carbon Capture and Storage ("CCS") as well as to facilitate Carbon Capture and Utilisation ("CCU") on an industrial scale in Germany, aiming to pave the way for a corresponding CO2 pipeline network.
Accordingly, the German Government introduced the long-awaited draft bill for a revision of the Carbon Dioxide Act (Kohlendioxid-Speicherungsgesetz, "KSpG") and first key points of its Carbon Management Strategy (Eckpunkte der Bundesregierung für eine Carbon Management-Strategie).
