Jeff Butler has a broad range of experience litigating complex commercial cases in federal and state courts, including substantial experience coordinating cross-border litigation and other litigation in multiple jurisdictions.

Jeff has particular experience representing non-US clients with respect to contentious matters in the US, including securities class actions, financial product litigation, M&A litigation and bankruptcy-related litigation

  • Representing Airbus Americas Inc. in a post-M&A indemnification action in Fairfax County, Virginia. After a three-week bench trial involving complex accounting issues, Airbus was awarded indemnification and legal fees totaling US$13.2 million
  • Representing Summit Health Inc. in a breach of contract action in the Southern District of New York. Won partial summary judgment and, after a one-week jury trial on remaining issues, a jury awarded $1.5 million to Summit
  • Representing a Chinese telecommunications company in a breach of contract action in the Southern District of New York
  • Representing several European banks in litigation relating to the collapse of Bernard L. Madoff Investment Securities
  • Representing a global financial institution in litigation against a former private wealth client
