Careers

In this section

Our longstanding experience as a leading law firm, combined with our extensive geographical coverage and well-balanced practice, means that we are well placed to offer a seamless legal service to our clients.

We are truly integrated across our offices - able to act as one network rather than a series of individual firms operating under one name. Our practice is built so that we can work cross-border and cross-practice. We act for many multinational clients with complex, high-value legal issues and provide integrated legal services across the full commercial spectrum.

Often we are involved in groundbreaking deals where our lawyers are asked to innovate; to create the right framework in order to achieve the best result; to apply their knowledge and business sense to provide robust, commercial solutions; and to set new standards for the international legal market.

Recent deals

Some example of recent deals we have handled include:

Project Gastein
This deal, worth EUR€525 million, involved taking security in about 18 jurisdictions ranging from the People's Republic of China through to several central, eastern and western European countries such as the Czech Republic, Hungary, Slovakia, Slovenia, Austria and Croatia. It is believed to be the largest and most complex leveraged transaction ever in central and eastern Europe. Teams from our London and Frankfurt offices worked with a number of our European and Asian offices including Brussels, Prague, Shanghai, Paris, Budapest, Milan, Luxembourg, Amsterdam, Warsaw and Spain.

Lindows, Inc.
Our Palo Alto intellectual property group achieved a favourable global settlement for Lindows, Inc. in its long-running trademark infringement battle against Microsoft. Microsoft agreed to pay USD$20 million to Lindows and provide a four year royalty-free license to incorporate and distribute Microsoft's windows media technologies into Lindows' products. With strategy coordinated from Palo Alto, Clifford Chance’s global IP group also successfully defended parallel actions brought by Microsoft in Paris, Amsterdam, Madrid, Helsinki, Stockholm, and Ottawa, defeating multiple preliminary injunctions.
