UK Government announces Subsidy Control Act came into force on 4 January 2023

13 February 2023

From 4 January 2023, subsidies granted by UK public authorities to businesses operating in the UK will be subject to the UK's Subsidy Control Act 2022. Following Brexit, most subsidies granted by Public Authorities were governed by the Trade and Cooperation Agreement between the UK and the EU, whereas the EU's State aid rules applied prior to Brexit. In this article, Nissim Massarano and Dr Dani Rabinowitz explain and discuss the key features of the regime.

Nissim Massarano is a Senior Associate at Clifford Chance LLP and Dani Rabinowitz is an Associate at Clifford Chance LLP.
