To celebrate the exceptional achievement of remaining at the forefront of the legal market in the Czech Republic for the last two decades, Clifford Chance's Prague office held a summer party as a thank you to its clients, as well as alumni, staff and colleagues from across the Clifford Chance network.
The event took place at Villa Richter, a restaurant and vineyard ideally situated in the Lesser Quarter bordering the grounds of Prague Castle. The location, with its vista taking in the entire city, provided the perfect backdrop to an evening where guests could enjoy delicious food, fine wines, and refreshing cocktails, to the sounds of top-class musical entertainment.
The evening was hosted by well-known Czech celebrity and humanitarian Lejla Abbasová, who kicked-off the proceedings by introducing speeches by Vlad Petrus, one of the office's founders and its former managing partner, Alex Cook, the current managing partner, and Clifford Chance's global managing partner Matthew Layton. Their messages provided insight into the history of the Prague office, and its successes and future ambitions, whilst Lejla highlighted the Firm's charitable work both locally and internationally, as an area close to her own activities for Asante Kenya.
Over the past 20 years, Clifford Chance's Prague office has grown in stature to become one of the leading law firms operating on the Czech and Slovak markets. In the course of these two decades of legal practice, the office has become synonymous with 'first of its kind' transactions, big ticket, headline grabbing deals, consistently high quality services and, above all, integrity.
Reflecting on the anniversary, Vlad Petrus commented: "I am immensely proud to have been part of this incredible journey which, when looking back over all of the good times we have enjoyed, seems to have passed so quickly".
Managing partner Alex Cook added: "Having joined the Firm 10 years ago, I am honoured to have been involved in the development of the Prague office. The secret of our success lies in the great team we have here in Prague and the cooperative spirit we share, both in the local office and with colleagues from across the Clifford Chance network. With such support in place I am sure we can look forward to further success over the next 20 years".
