Matthew Buchanan specialises in the construction aspects of infrastructure projects including in the oil and gas, power and mining sectors.

Matthew acts for lenders, sponsors and contractors in relation to the full suite of construction documentation, from complex EPC turnkey arrangements through to EPCM, CM, subcontracting structures, technical services agreements and relevant security documentation.

  • Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation, Mizuho Bank, HSBC, Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ and OCBC Bank to Malakoff Corporation Berhad, via its wholly-owned subsidiary, Tanjung Bin Energy Issuer Berhad, on RM6.5 billion (approximately US$2.16 billion) financing for a new 1,000 MW supercritical coal-fired power plant
  • First Calgary Petroleum (and then ENI) in connection with a major gas processing facility in Algeria
  • Lanxess in relation to the construction aspects of its butyl rubber plant in Singapore
  • Star Energy in relation to its Wayang Windu geothermal power project in Indonesia
