Richard Evans

Richard Evans works in Clifford Chance’s Global Asset Finance Group. He acts for borrowers and financiers on a wide range of asset finance transactions, specializing in aviation. His experience covers a wide range of financing structures, including full and limited recourse operating lease financings, direct airline financings, Japanese, French and Spanish tax lease structures, PDP financings, unsecured term loans and structured capital market transactions, as well as leasing and sale transactions.

Richard is currently located in London but previously worked for two years in Clifford Chance’s Singapore office, as well as spending a year on secondment at GECAS.

  • Advising Novus Aviation Capital as mezzanine investor under the French tax lease financing of two A330 aircraft leased to TAP (Tax Lease Deal of the Year, Airfinance Journal Awards 2019)
  • Advising the financiers on the warehouse financing for a portfolio of aircraft purchased by JP Lease and serviced by Stratos, together with the transition of those aircraft into the JOL-Air ABS (ABS Deal of the Year, Airfinance Journal Awards 2019)
  • Advising Goldman Sachs International and Credit Suisse AG as (i) structuring agents in relation to the creation of a joint venture set up between CALC and a number of PRC-based mezzanine investors to purchase a portfolio of aircraft assets sourced and serviced by CALC, and (ii) mandated lead arrangers of a $790mm debt facility provided in favour of the joint venture group in order to provide financing for the purpose of such aircraft.   • Advising the financiers on the PDP financing for Minsheng Financial Leasing of eight Boeing 737MAX aircraft (Best Cross-Border Deal, AirFinance Journal China awards 2018)
  • Advising Goldman Sachs as bookrunner and mandated lead arranger in respect of the capital markets offering for ICBC Leasing of notes secured against a portfolio of 18 aircraft and supported by a purchase option agreement from ICBC Leasing (Asia Pacific Deal of the Year 2014, Airfinance Journal; Aircraft Lessor Debt Deal of the Year – Asia 2014, Global Transport Finance; Asia Pacific Deal of the Year 2014, Airline Economics)
