Ram Mashru specialises in international arbitration.
Ram has acted for States, state-owned entities, corporates and financial institutions in commercial and investment treaty arbitrations under all major institutional rules. He has particular experience of disputes in the energy, metals & mining, and oil & gas sectors.
Ram has also acted in arbitration-related litigation proceedings at all appellate levels, including the UK Supreme Court.
Ram maintains an active pro bono practice, assisting a number of NGOs and charities on international human rights matters.
Ram is admitted as a Solicitor-Advocate (Civil Proceedings) in the Courts of England and Wales.
- Acting for a European metals company in a London-seated LCIA arbitration in a dispute under a Marketing & Offtake Agreement.
- Acting for a US state agency and US multinational bank in two related London-seated LCIA arbitrations in disputes arising out of the failed development of a gas power plant.
- Advising a state oil company on claims arising out of potential contamination of an oil pipeline.
- Represented UniCredit Bank GmbH in its application for an anti-suit injunction in support of a foreign-seated arbitration at all stages of the proceedings, including the UK Supreme Court (matter completed prior to joining Clifford Chance).
