Haafiz Suleman has significant experience of litigating complex, cross-border commercial and cyber litigation, and has acted for a range of global corporates and financial investors (including asset managers and private equity houses). Haafiz is a member of the Clifford Chance Global Tech Group and a lead associate for the Global Cyber Security Team.

Haafiz has represented clients in some of the most cutting-edge and highest value claims before the English courts in recent years. He has also advised Members of Parliament involved in some of the country's highest profile public inquiry investigations.

Haafiz is the author of a number of online publications covering cyber / data issues, and his legal commentary on #MeToo and the use of NDAs has been published in The Times and cited elsewhere.

  • Advising a global telecommunications client in relation to its defence of High Court litigation relating to (at the time) one of the world’s largest cyber-attacks.
  • Representing two Members of Parliament in respect of their core participation in the UK Independent Inquiry into Child Sexual Abuse.
  • Advising a number of private equity clients on disputes arising out of the exit from investments by funds, and on commercial claims relating to, among other things, data privacy issues.
  • Advising Inmarsat on its acquisition by Triton Bidco for £2.6 billion.
  • Acting in English High Court proceedings arising out of the €multi-billion refinancing of the Hellas telecommunications group in December 2006.
  • Advising a global corporate client on risks arising out of its use of facial recognition software.
  • Providing cross-border advice to a corporate client in respect of the data-scraping of its website.
  • Advising a corporate client in relation to a Bitcoin advertising dispute.
  • Advising a global bank’s Emergency Management Team in relation to their cyber-preparedness.
  • Seeking and obtaining an emergency injunction from the English court for a corporate client to prevent an individual from releasing confidential data online.
  • Advising clients on their interactions with the National Cyber Security Centre.
  • Presenting to the CBI Cyber Conference on mitigating cyber litigation risk and data liability.
  • Acting for a major US defence contractor in a substantial LCIA arbitration in which the UK Government was ordered to pay £224m pursuant to the termination of a contract.
