Gibbs Johnson is an energy, natural resources and infrastructure specialist who provides consulting services to Clifford Chance. Gibbs has a particular focus on Southern Africa, where he has been actively engaged in numerous transactions for the last 15 years.

Gibbs has worked on behalf of project sponsors, governments and lenders, and his experience covers advising in relation to all aspects of project development, including risk allocation, negotiation of commercial contracts and financing.

Gibbs is the Africa Practice Leader for Oil & Gas.

  • Represented EDM in relation to the 450 MW CCGT Temane IPP Project being developed at Temane, Mozambique.
  • Representing Sociedade Nacional de Transporte de Energia, S.A. in relation to the 500km 400kV Temane Transmission Project being developed in Mozambique.
  • Representing the Gulf Cooperation Council Interconnection Authority in relation to the development of a proposed 400kV transmission interconnection between Kuwait and Southern Iraq.
  • Advised Sponsors in relation to the development and financing of solar PV projects in Namibia, South Africa and Mozambique.
