Belinda Brady is an associate in Clifford Chance’s Dubai office. She advises clients on complex cross-border disputes, with a focus on international arbitration and complex high-value commercial litigation. Prior to relocating to Dubai, Belinda trained and practised in the Firm’s Perth office.
Belinda has experience in both ad hoc and institutional arbitrations, including those under the ICSID, ICC, LCIA, and UNCITRAL rules. In addition, Belinda has also assisted clients in litigation proceedings before the New South Wales, Western Australian, and DIFC Courts.
Belinda advises clients across a range of sectors, with a particular focus on construction, energy and natural resources, and financial services. Her experience includes advising:
- a European petrochemical trading services company in multiple arbitration proceedings relating to oil offtake agreements (DIFC and Dubai seated, UNCITRAL and ad-hoc arbitrations)
- a leading accounting firm on its defence of proceedings arising from the collapse of the Hastie Group (a shareholder class action): Sadie Ville Pty Ltd v Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu (A Firm) (No 7) [2023] FCA 1273
- an international energy company in respect of claims arising out of a wind turbine dispute (SIAC arbitration)
- an Australian mining company and its subsidiaries in investor-state arbitrations with the Government of the Republic of Congo and the Government of the Republic of Cameroon, in relation to a globally significant, trans-boundary iron ore project
