Spain proposes new data centre regulation

The Spanish Government's recent regulatory proposal for data centres could introduce a new regulatory framework with a significant impact on the development, financing and operation of these infrastructures. Although the text is still going through the legislative process, it has generated concern in the sector due to the scope and stringency of the proposed measures, which include new reporting and operational obligations relating to sustainability, energy, resilience and digital sovereignty
