Satbir Walia is a Partner in the M&A team in Singapore. She has worked on a broad range of cross-border M&A transactions globally having worked in our Singapore, Hong Kong and New York offices.

Satbir joined Clifford Chance in 2008 and has since advised a wide range of clients on strategic mergers and acquisitions and joint ventures in the financial institutions, technology, private equity and consumer goods sectors. She has a particular focus on financial institution groups and the tech sector.

  • Unilever on its US$2.7 billion acquisition of Carver Korea from Bain Capital and Goldman Sachs
  • National Australia Bank on the sale of its private wealth business in Singapore and Hong Kong to OCBC
  • ABN AMRO on the sale of its private banking and wealth management business in Asia and the Middle East to LGT
  • Actis on its acquisition of GHL Systems Berhad in Malaysia
  • Fidelis, a newly-created specialty insurance and reinsurance company with a novel hybrid investment model, with private equity capital raise of approximately $1.5 billion
  • American Centuries Companies, Inc. in connection with sale by CIBC of approximately 40% economic interest in American Centuries Companies Inc. to Nomura for approximately US$1billion
  • China Minsheng Investment on its US$2.6billion acquisition of Sirius International from White Mountains Insurance Group
  • Coca-Cola and Coca-Cola Femsa on their acquisiton of Ades business in certain Latin American countries from Unilever
  • Carlyle on acquisition of ADT Korea from Tyco for US$1.93 billion
  • Carrefour on its divestment of its Indonesian joint venture to CT Corp
  • COFCO Corporation on its acquisition of 51% of Noble Agri Limited from Noble Group
  • CVC Capital Partners Limited and Standard Chartered Private Equity Limited, on their divestment by auction sale of Infastech to Stanley Black & Decker, Inc.
  • HSBC on its divestment of:
    • general insurance assets and liabilities in Hong Kong and Singapore to AXA
    • life insurance assets and liabilities in Taiwan to Allianz
    • group term life and employee benefits businesses in Singapore to AXA Life
  • Philip Morris on its:
    • joint venture in the Philippines with Fortune Tobacco
    • India joint venture with Godfrey Phillips Industries and its promoters relating to the contract manufacturing and distribution of Marlboro and other PMI brands
    • acquisition of certain cigar brands from Swedish Match in Australia and New Zealand
    • joint venture in Vietnam with Vietnam National Tobacco Corporation
