Chris Bates is head of Clifford Chance's financial regulatory practice in London.

He advises banks, securities firms and other financial institutions on issues associated with the impact of Brexit, regulatory response to the financial crisis, the impact of the EU single market programme, financial services regulation and regulatory capital, as well as advising on securities and derivatives transactions and mergers and acquisitions in the financial sector.

Chris is a member of the Council of the International Regulatory Strategy Group advising the City of London Corporation and TheCityUK. Chris is also a Visiting Professorial Fellow in the Centre for Commercial Law Studies, Queen Mary University of London.
