David Alfrey specialises in ESG-related corporate governance and regulatory advice, regulatory investigations and business and human rights, with a particular emphasis on corporate enterprises, private equity and funds.
David is a member of Clifford Chance's global ESG board and has extensive experience in governance advice and structures, advising globally on boardroom and fiduciary risk and associated policies. He has also advised clients within the sports, healthcare, extractives, automotives and other sectors on human rights and environmental considerations. David additionally advises across the reporting and disclosure regulations, specifically, SFDR, CSRD, CS3D and the EU Taxonomy. This includes advice relating to ESG-related strategic opportunities, setting commitments and associated compliance roadmaps to realise these objectives. Key strategic ESG-related clients David advises are the Taskforce for Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD), the Natural History Museum, The UN Global Compact (UNGC), and the Science-Based Targets Initiations (SBTi).
Additionally David advises clients across the Sport sector, including the Centre for Sport and Human Rights and the Invictus Games Foundation.
Having practised as a Litigation and Investigations and a Project Finance lawyer previously, David is also able to speak across the whole of business risks and opportunities.
