Haeran Chung

Haeran Chung specialises in commercial litigation and international arbitration with experience in a broad range of dispute types, including in energy & resources, aerospace, private equity, technology and media, and general commercial disputes.

In addition to her experience in Australia, Haeran has worked in Paris. She has conducted arbitrations under the ICC, HKIAC, ACICA, UNCITRAL and ICSID Rules.

  • Acting for Airbus in defending a claim brought by Qatar Airways arising from an aircraft manufacture agreement and surface degradation issues on the A350 programme.
  • Acting for a global aerospace company in an ICC dispute concerning service, representation and distribution agreements (Paris seat, French and Singapore law).
  • Acting for two State-owned entities of a South-East Asian country in a US$1bn+ dispute against a private consortium in relation to breaches of a multi-billion dollar concession agreement concerning the development and management of electricity generation, transmission and distribution assets (UNCITRAL arbitration, Singapore seat).
  • Advising a subsidiary of a South American conglomerate in relation to a US$1bn+ billion ICSID arbitration claim arising from an offshore gas pipeline project.
  • Advising multiple affiliates of a leading commodity trading company in a mining-related dispute against an African government.
  • Sitting as Tribunal Secretary in an HKIAC arbitration relating to a shareholder dispute (Hong Kong seat, Hong Kong law).
