Clifford Chance advises Bpifrance on its inaugural issue of European Defence Bonds in an aggregate amount of 1 billion euros
Bpifrance has launched on November 12, 2025, its first defence bond issuance amounting to 1 billion euros, maturing on 25th November 2030.
This issuance follows the publication in July 2025 of the Bpifrance European Defence Bond Framework. This new framework, which is innovative and pioneering in the bond market, forms part of Bpifrance's strengthened support for strategic French companies in the defence sector. The issue qualified for the Euronext European Defence Bond Label.
This transaction received strong support from investors, with a final order book exceeding € 3.8 billion euros.

Bpifrance a lancé le 12 novembre 2025 sa première émission de European Defence Bonds d'un montant total de 1 milliard d'euros, arrivant à échéance le 25 novembre 2030.
Cette émission fait suite à la publication, en juillet 2025, de son nouveau Bpifrance European Defence Bond Framework. Ce nouveau framework, inédit et pionnier sur le marché obligataire, s'inscrit dans le renforcement du soutien de Bpifrance aux entreprises stratégiques françaises du secteur de la défense. L'émission est éligible au European Defence Bond Label de Euronext.
La transaction a reçu un soutien solide des investisseurs, avec un livre d'ordres final de plus de € 3.8 milliards d'euros.
