Clifford Chance advises Carrefour on the sale of its Malaysia operations to Japan's Aeon
Leading international law firm Clifford Chance has advised Carrefour on the sale of its Malaysia operations for an enterprise value of €250 million to Aeon Co., Ltd, a major player in Japan’s retail sector. The deal closed on Wednesday, 31 October.
"We were very pleased to assist Carrefour on this transaction," said Emma Davies.
Emma and partner Mathieu Remy led the Clifford Chance team, with counsel Valerie Kong and associate Julien Brun. Clifford Chance worked closely with Wong & Partners in Malaysia and Baker & McKenzie advised on the tax aspects of the transaction.
Carrefour has been in Malaysia since 1994, and is the fourth-biggest retailer in the country with 26 hypermarkets.
