Clifford Chance advises Credit Agricole and Tokyo Star Bank on commercial financing of AirAsia Japan's first aircraft
Leading international law firm Clifford Chance has advised Credit Agricole Corporate and Investment Bank and The Tokyo Star Bank Ltd on the commercial financing of an A320-200 to be operated by AirAsia Japan, the first aircraft to be operated by the airline. The transaction closed on 7 June 2012.
Singapore partner Simon Briscoe, who led the Clifford Chance team said, "We are delighted to have advised the lenders on this transaction, a landmark deal in terms of the development of the aviation industry in Japan, and continuing evidence of the strong growth of the aviation sector in Asia."
Simon was assisted by associates Samuel Kolehmainen, Patricia Anyaegbuna and trainee Joyce Fong. Hong Kong partner Paul Greenwell advised in connection with the Japanese related aspects of the transaction and was assisted by senior associate Keisuke Imon from Clifford Chance's Tokyo office.
AirAsia was advised by Stephenson Harwood, Singapore on English law aspects and by Latham & Watkins, Tokyo on Japanese law aspects.
