Welcome to the New Year edition of the UK Employment Update. This edition sets out the new statutory rates in relation to unfair dismissal compensation, redundancy, maternity and sick pay.


We also look at two important Court of Appeal decisions on the application of TUPE where a company is in administration and whether a dismissal can be automatically unfair if the identity of the purchaser of a business is not known at the time of dismissal.


Finally this briefing considers the Government's plans for introducing Employment Tribunal fees, judicial guidance on ill-health dismissals and a Supreme Court decision that limits an employee's ability to pursue compensation for breach of a contractual disciplinary procedure prior to dismissal.
