To celebrate International Women's Day 2021, Clifford Chance offices across the world are joining together to pledge our support for the #ChooseToChallenge campaign, which informs us that "a challenged world is an alert world and from challenge comes change".
How do we challenge each other and ourselves to: change the rules, change the culture, change the lived experience, in line with our global inclusion strategy?

"Joining the club and putting my hand up for gender equality! As a book/article lover, I #ChoosetoChallenge myself to read more and then share widely the stories of women who we do not always hear about, but have in their own way, forged a more equitable world.
With respect to others, I also #ChoosetoChallenge myself to be intentional about seeking out the best in other people, and then verbally or otherwise, supporting and affirming them."
Connie Heng
Regional Managing Partner, Asia Pacific
"I am very proud of our women at Clifford Chance for their resilience and determination in the past year. In their different roles as daughter, mother, wife, sister, colleague or friend, many have faced and continue to deal with unprecedented challenges brought about by Covid-19. We celebrate them and commit to continuing to help them achieve their dreams and aspirations!
From challenge comes change, I #ChoosetoChallenge myself to focus on the positives in people without bias and to celebrate their success - only then will we build a more inclusive and equitable work place and society!"
David Harkness
Partner, UK

Event - The cases that #ChooseToChallenge
The law is not a neutral observer in the campaign for gender equality. It can and should be an engine of change driving that equality forward. At Clifford Chance we believe that we can only realise these goals and values if we use our skills to campaign for them, champion and defend them. Across our firm people are doing just that to defend the equal rights of women and challenge injustice.
On Tuesday 16 March, we highlighted and celebrated some of the work being undertaken by amazing advocates from across our firm with a virtual event that profiled some of the gender parity pro bono cases Clifford Chance have worked on.
Actions matter and every one of us is the most effective ambassador for change in our own space. Reflecting on this year's theme of #ChooseToChallenge gives us a great opportunity to look back on our own 'change-maker' video series, which celebrates those who speak up and choose to be proactive about taking action in our firm as we continue to campaign for gender equality.
