The Polish renewable energy sector is still awaiting the final version of the draft act on renewable energy sources (the "Draft Act on RES"). Draft amendments to Polish legislation concerning both conventional and renewable energy, i.e. the so-called large three-pack (the "Large Three-Pack"), which includes the new Energy Law, the Gas Law and the Draft Act on RES1 caused a great deal of controversy in the energy sector, particularly the part concerning the regulations of RES. 2012 saw further material changes to the original version of the draft Large Three-Pack in which the Ministry of Economy, influenced primarily by criticisms from the RES energy sector, gradually modified certain proposed changes. Unfortunately, the lack of clarity as to the direction further amendments in the Draft Act on RES are to take and continuing uncertainty as to the final form the RES support system is to take, have led to a suspension of some projects until the terms on which they can be developed are clarified.
