The Eurozone crisis continues to dominate the global economic landscape. What once was unthinkable – a discussion about the possibility of a Eurozone member departing from the currency union – has now been touched on publicly by leaders of European member states at the heart of the European project. It has raised questions among market participants as to the implications of such an event for market standard documentation. This briefing looks at a set of questions in the context of how loan documentation might (or might not) deal with such an eventuality, albeit an unlikely one, from a Dutch legal perspective.
