Laura García-Valdecasas specialises in litigation, arbitration and insolvency law. Since she joined Clifford Chance in 2019, Laura has been involved in all types of judicial and arbitration proceedings before both national and international courts. She has experience in disputes related to corporate law, insurance, antitrust, construction, energy, distribution, agency and sports.

  • Advising and representing the European Super League before the Spanish courts, including an injunction, and the Court of Justice of the European Union in its dispute with UEFA and FIFA in relation to their dominant position in the international football market and unjustified restrictions of access to the market for the organisation of pan-European football clubs competitions.
  • Legal advice and representation provided to a multinational in the telecommunications sector relating to a claim filed by a competitor for damages deriving from alleged anticompetitive practices (margin squeeze).
  • Representing several subsidiaries of a Spanish renewable energy company in an ICC arbitration against a subsidiary of a Portuguese petrol company in relation to the impact of regulatory changes on the energy market and events of force majeure (e.g. COVID-19) on the PPAs for photovoltaic plants situated in Spain.
  • Representing a telecommunications company in multiple disputes with its commercial agents after the termination of the respective agency relationships.
  • Advising and representing three Spanish subsidiaries of a French real estate company, owner of premises in a shopping centre, in a dispute against a department store that requested a reduction in the rent applying the rebus sic stantibus or hardship doctrine as a result of the situation caused by COVID-19.
  • Advising and representing the Spanish subsidiary of a Korean technology company in a lawsuit brought by a competitor claiming damages arising from a cartel.
