Recently, we have seen a very significant increase in all activity across the whole of our litigation practice in Poland, including in particular:
- disputes related to the global economy crisis (in particular in the finance and real estate sectors and "post deal" litigation);
- insolvency/bankruptcy (as a consequence of the global economic downtown);
- arbitration – in particular post-M&A and investment, disputes, both institutional and ad hoc arbitration;
- criminal and anti-corruption advice and investigations including FCPA investigations;
- litigious healthcare and life sciences matters – including different medical-incident matters, proceedings resulting therefrom (administrative, criminal and civil) and health-product liability cases;
- construction and infrastructure litigation and arbitration – this is a product of the on-going substantial investment in Poland's infrastructure (to a large extent financed by the flow of EU funds); and
- derivatives cases – owing to recent instability on the currency markets.
Healthcare. Within our Litigation & Dispute Resolution practice we have also established a dedicated Healthcare & Life Sciences Sector Focus Group. Our expertise includes: medical equipment, pharmaceuticals, biocides, healthcare medical centres and dealings with the National Health Fund, health insurance (including professional indemnity insurance of healthcare professionals and healthcare facilities), regulatory, liability (civil and criminal), compliance, public procurement, general litigation, employment, intellectual property and GMOs. We provide healthcare-related assistance to private hospitals and healthcare centres, pharmaceutical, biocide and insurance companies, producers of medical equipment, and private equity funds interested in the medical sector.
