Through our Prague-based Slovak Desk we provide comprehensive legal services fully covering all relevant aspects of Slovak law.

Having a dedicated Slovak law unit allows us to provide a wider service coverage in the region and offer seamless advice to clients who operate in both the Czech Republic and Slovakia. As well as supporting the business interests of the Prague office's client base, our team is called upon to advise on matters involving clients from throughout Clifford Chance’s global network.

The Slovak desk consists of lawyers with extensive experience in multi-jurisdictional work qualified to provide services in Slovakia and the Czech Republic.

Major client assignments:

  • Mitsubishi Corporation on the acquisition of a 25 percent stake in the Slovak and Czech subsidiaries of South Korean car parts producer Sungwoo Automotive.
  • UniCredit Bank AG on a EUR 150,000,000 revolving facility agreement in relation to the refinancing of the Slovak and Czech subsidiaries of the Messer Group, a manufacturer of industrial gases.
  • IKEA on the planning and development of their stores in Slovakia.
