Solvency 2 will fundamentally reform insurance regulation in Europe and aims to set the standard for risk based prudential regulation of the sector. Insurers, whether within or outside the EU, will need to assess the implications of the new approach and respond to the challenges and opportunities which it creates. Whilst not all of the detailed provisions are yet settled the principles are clear and insurers and regulators both need to prepare for implementation on 1 January 2013. This webinar will focus on the potential impact of the new regulatory approach on group structures, products, governance, capital needs, investment strategy and mergers and acquisitions in the sector. Our panellists will also discuss the relative roles of the Commission, EIOPA and the national regulators in overseeing the sector and will touch on other regulatory changes which may affect the practice.
