Market developments in India

Date: Wednesday 7 December 2011

2011 began with promises of the next generation of economic reforms as India emerged from the effect of the global financial crisis, still struggling against high inflation, rising borrowing costs and volatile capital markets.

The middle of the year saw growth picking up and businesses planning to raise money again, despite somewhat sluggish market conditions and rising inflation. At the same time foreign companies continued to make strategic investments in India believing in India's long term potential.

This Autumn, however, has seen considerable falls in the equity markets and the Rupee exchange rate, combined with increasing political turmoil over reforms and reduced liquidity in the debt markets.

This webinar will review what this means for current debt, M&A and capital market deals and also look ahead to the coming months. The panel comprises Clifford Chance partners expert in India-related financing, M&A and capital markets work.

Speakers: Corporate partner Sumesh Sawhney (London), Finance partner Ranbir Hunjan (London) and Capital Markets partner Rahul Guptan (Singapore), together with Corporate partner Mark Poulton (London).
