Clifford Chance advises Lufthansa on employment issues relating to the sale of its ex-Europe catering arm LSG Group to Aurelius
Clifford Chance has advised Deutsche Lufthansa AG on employment issues relating to the sale of its ex-Europe catering arm, LSG Group, to the private equity investor Aurelius Group. LSG Group is present in 49 countries and employs around 19,000 staff across 131 customer service centres providing an array of services including onboard retail. The transaction is scheduled for completion during the third quarter of this year and is subject to the standard official approvals being obtained.
The German flagship carrier hopes the move will allow it to increase its focus on its core airline business. With the company having sold the LSG Sky Chefs European business to gategroup in 2019, it has now found a buyer for the rest of its catering operations. Deutsche Lufthansa AG asked special counsel Nicole Engesser Means to provide comprehensive employment law advice on both of these deals.

Die internationale Anwaltssozietät Clifford Chance hat die Deutsche Lufthansa AG arbeitsrechtlich bei dem Verkauf der außereuropäischen Catering-Sparte LSG Group mit 131 Cateringbetrieben einschließlich des Bordverkaufs in 49 Ländern mit rund 19.000 Beschäftigten an den Private-Equity-Investor Aurelius Group beraten. Die Transaktion soll im Laufe des dritten Quartals dieses Jahres abgeschlossen werden. Der Vollzug steht noch unter dem Vorbehalt der üblichen behördlichen Genehmigungen.
Die Deutsche Lufthansa will sich stärker auf das Fluggeschäft konzentrieren. Nachdem der Konzern schon 2019 die europäischen Aktivitäten der LSG Sky Chefs an die gategroup verkauft hatte, hat der Konzern nun auch für den noch verbliebenen Teil der Catering-Sparte einen Käufer gefunden. Special Counsel Nicole Engesser Means war von der Deutsche Lufthansa in beiden Transaktionen mit der Beratung zu allen arbeitsrechtlichen Aspekten mandatiert.
