Clifford Chance advises Macquarie Asset Management’s Green Investment Group on the acquisition of BayWa r.e.’s bioenergy platform

Clifford Chance has advised Macquarie Asset Management’s Green Investment Group (GIG) on the acquisition of BayWa r.e. Bioenergy GmbH from BayWa r.e. AG via the Macquarie GIG Energy Transition Solutions fund.

BayWa r.e. Bioenergy is a specialist biogas platform. Active across the full asset lifecycle, the business develops, constructs and operates biogas projects which provide biomethane and power to local energy companies, industrial companies and energy traders. Its existing portfolio comprises five operational plants in Germany and a pipeline of development projects located across Italy. The business’s current operational assets produce a total of approximately 140 GWh of biomethane annually helping avoid 13.16 kilotonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent of greenhouse gas emissions every year.

Die internationale Anwaltssozietät Clifford Chance hat die Green Investment Group (GIG) von Macquarie Asset Management beim Erwerb der BayWa r.e. Bioenergy GmbH von BayWa r.e. AG beraten. GIG erwirbt das Biogas-Unternehmen für den Macquarie GIG Energy Transition Solutions Fonds.

BayWa r.e. Bioenergy entwickelt, baut und betreibt Biogasprojekte, die Biomethan und Strom für lokale Energieversorger, Industrieunternehmen und Energiehändler liefern. Das bestehende Portfolio umfasst fünf in Betrieb befindliche Anlagen in Deutschland und eine Reihe von Entwicklungsprojekten in Italien. Die derzeit in Betrieb befindlichen Anlagen produzieren jährlich insgesamt etwa 140 GWh Biomethan und tragen dazu bei, jährlich 13,16 Kilotonnen Kohlendioxid-Äquivalente an Treibhausgasemissionen zu vermeiden.
