Clifford Chance advises General Electric on Baker Hughes merger and GE Water sale

International law firm Clifford Chance has advised GE on the merger control aspects of its €3.2 billion sale of GE Water and Process Technologies to Suez S.A. Yesterday, the European Commission approved the sale unconditionally, which will permit the transaction to close.

In parallel, Clifford Chance also advised GE on the merger control aspects of the merger of GE Oil & Gas with Baker Hughes, which involved 19 pre-closing merger filings across the globe. Clifford Chance coordinated the submission of the global (ex-US and EU) merger filings and, together with Arnold & Porter Kaye Scholer, assisted GE on the merger filing to the European Commission.

The Clifford Chance team advising GE on both matters was led by Antitrust Partner Tony Reeves in Brussels, with support in Brussels from Frances Dethmers (Counsel), Heleen Engelen (Counsel), Georgios Yannouchos (Associate), Katharine Missenden (Associate) and Jonathan Blondeel (Associate). The Clifford Chance offices in Australia, China and Russia were also involved.
