Clifford Chance advises Affinity on landmark GBP 500m Military Flying Training System PPP

International law firm Clifford Chance advised Affinity, a Kellogg Brown & Root and Elbit Systems joint venture, as preferred bidder to support the procurement, delivery and maintenance of three new fleets of fixed wing training aircraft and related infrastructure for the UK Ministry of Defence.

The approximately GBP 500m contract, one of the principal elements of a PPP acknowledged as the one of the most complex defence procurements to date, will see Affinity support the delivery of the Fixed Wing element of the UK Military Flying Training System. Ascent, a training design and delivery organisation created as a joint venture between Lockheed Martin and Babcock International, was in 2008 awarded a 25-year contract to provide a Military Flying Training System (UKMFTS) in partnership with the MOD for the UK’s Armed Forces.

The Clifford Chance team was led by project finance partner Gavin Teague.
