Clifford Chance marks Gay Pride with eighth annual international LGBT Art Exhibition

Clifford Chance is celebrating Gay Pride with an international exhibition showcasing the work of some of the best lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) artists at its offices in London, New York and, for the first time, Amsterdam and Hong Kong.

Organised by Arcus, the firm's LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender) and allies employee network, the London strand of the exhibition is called Pioneers and looks at the work of distinguished artists with a connection to London, and the arts, over many years. Each in their own way, and often together, these artists helped forge the art scene that we have today. The exhibiting artists are : Christopher Brown, David Edmond, Duggie Fields, Nancy Fouts, Maggi Hambling, Christopher Hobbs, David Ivie, Andrew Logan, Mandy McCartin.

Clifford Chance senior partner Malcolm Sweeting comments: "The annual exhibition, first held in New York in 2007, quickly established itself as the foremost corporate-supported annual forum for displaying the work of LGBT artists in both cities. I am delighted that, at a time when gay rights are increasingly recognised and protected around the world, we are now able to share this great work with our clients in two new cities.

"The diversity or our people is at the very heart of our ability to serve our clients well, and so it is essential that we create an inclusive workplace in which everyone can be themselves and be the best that they can be."

Michael Petry, artist and founding curator the London exhibitions, adds: "While the artists included in the show work in many different styles and areas of contemporary art, what they all have in common is a drive to make that work, often against the tide of art world fashions and, in the early years, against social approval. Not that any of them have sought that approval. They have carved a path out for themselves, made roads that stretch back and yet also lead to the future. They were, and are pioneers in so many unexpected ways. "

The exhibition will be formally launched in all offices with a reception on Thursday 25 June 2015.
