Clifford Chance advises Nippon Steel & Sumikin Engineering on the acquisition of Fisia Babcock Environment

Clifford Chance advised Nippon Steel & Sumikin Engineering Co., Ltd. (NSENGI) on the acquisition of 100% of the shares in Fisia Babcock Environment GmbH (FBE), Gummersbach (Germany), from Salini Impregilo S.p.A., Milan, for EUR 139 million. The transaction is subject to clearance from the cartel authorities.

By way of this investment, NSENGI is extending its European activities in the environmental engineering sector. NSENGI, with 42 reference plants (40 plants in Japan, 2 plants in South Korea), is the world´s leading supplier of waste gasification and melting technology with its Direct Melting System (DMS) technology. 

FBE is an environmental plant engineering company and one of the leading companies in environmental technology in Europe. Its primary business are energy-from-waste (EfW) plants based on grate incineration technology (grate), and among others, flue gas treatment plants for industrial processes and thermal power plants.

Die internationale Anwaltssozietät Clifford Chance hat Nippon Steel & Sumikin Engineering Co., Ltd. (NSENGI) beim Erwerb sämtlicher Gesellschaftsanteile der Fisia Babcock Environment GmbH (FBE), Gummersbach, von Salini Impregilo S.p.A., Mailand, beraten. Der Kaufpreis beträgt 139 Millionen Euro. Die Transaktion erfolgt vorbehaltlich der Zustimmung durch die Kartellbehörden.

NSENGI baut mit dieser Investition seine Umwelttechnikaktivitäten in Europa aus. NSENGI ist mit 42 Anlagen (40 in Japan, 2 in Südkorea) der weltweit führende Anbieter für Abfallvergasungsanlagen auf Basis des Direkteinschmelzverfahrens.

FBE ist im Bereich Engineering- und Anlagenbau tätig und gehört zu den führenden Unternehmen auf dem Gebiet der Umwelttechnik in Europa. Das Kerngeschäft bilden Energy-from-Waste-Anlagen auf Basis der Rosttechnologie sowie Rauchgasreinigungsanlagen für Wärmekraftwerke und industrielle Prozesse.
