Clifford Chance continues to expand its Corporate and IP practices in Munich

Clifford Chance continues to expand the spectrum of its advisory services at its Munich office. Partner Markus Muhs (Corporate) and counsel Dr. Anette Gärtner (IP), both experienced lawyers, are relocating from the Frankfurt office to Munich to extend its full service advisory services.

Markus Muhs has worked at Clifford Chance's Frankfurt Office since 2002 and was appointed partner in of 2012. He advises on M&A transactions, joint ventures and major investment projects. Markus specialises in the energy and infrastructure sector, as well as in transactions in high-tech industries (including IT, clean tech, aerospace & defence). He also has in-house experience from working with a leading IT provider to the aviation industry and is a member of the Federation of German Industry (BDI) Initiative "Internet of Energy". His focus on sector-specific issues ideally complements the spectrum of services of the Munich office.

Dr. Anette Gärtner (counsel) is a specialist attorney in intellectual property law and joined Clifford Chance in 2005. She advises clients, mainly from the electronics semi-conductor, automotive and software industries, on all aspects relating to intellectual property and copyright law, focusing on technical industrial property rights (including the law on employee inventions). Her main focus is on patent infringement proceedings and representing clients in litigation and arbitration proceedings with a technical background.

The relocation of Markus Muhs and Dr. Anette Gärtner to Munich represents the third stage of Clifford Chance's strategy to expand its advisory services in the Munich office. Partners Burc Hesse (Private Equity) and Tim Schreiber (Litigation and Dispute Resolution) relocated to the Bavarian capital from our Frankfurt office in 2011. Real Estate partners Dr. Horst Schlemminger and Christian Trenkel relocated from Frankfurt to Munich back in 2009 to bolster the firm's advisory services in respect of real estate law and public law issues.

Dr. Patrick Biagosch, managing partner at Clifford Chance's Munich office commented "Anette Gärtner and Markus Muhs bring a wealth of experience and expertise with them in the technology and infrastructure sectors, thereby enabling us to further enhance the core components of the spectrum of our advisory services at our Munich office. Being able to draw on Anette and Markus's extensive industry knowhow means that we are now capable of accommodating our clients' needs like never before here in Munich, Germany's leading high tech centre."
