Clifford Chance advised on first Renminbi bond of an Austrian company

Clifford Chance advised a banking consortium consisting of HSBC, Standard Chartered Bank and Raiffeisen Bank International AG on the issuing of a bond denominated in Chinese Yuan Renminbi (RMB) of Raiffeisen Bank International AG.

The volume of the bond amounts to 750 million RMB. The bond is subject to an interest rate of 4.55% p.a. and its term is two years. This is the first bond issued in RMB by an Austrian company.

Clifford Chance is a key player in Europe in the fast growing "dim sum" bond market, i.e. bonds denominated in RMB but placed outside China, mainly in Hong Kong. Clifford Chance also recently advised on the first German dim sum bonds issued by Volkswagen and BSH Bosch and Siemens Hausgeräte as well as an RMB bond by Lanxess.

The Clifford Chance team included partner Sebastian Maerker and senior associate Robert Koller (both Banking & Capital Markets, Frankfurt) as well as partners Matthew Fairclough and Connie Heng and senior associate James Booth (all Capital Markets, Hong Kong).
