Clifford Chance advises Bayer Pt Ltd on its Joint Venture with Cadila Healthcare Limited

Leading international law firm, Clifford Chance today announces it has advised Bayer HealthCare on its joint venture agreement with one of the top five pharmaceutical companies in India, Cadila Healthcare Limited (Zydus Cadila).

The companies have agreed to combine parts of their pharmaceutical marketing and distribution businesses in India and to run the combined entity as an equal joint venture. 

India focussed London corporate partner, Sumesh Sawhney, who led the deal alongside Bayer relationship partner, Christoph Witte, said, "In the last couple of years, the pharmaceutical sector in India has witnessed heavy M&A activity with large acquisitions of Indian pharmaceuticals companies by global pharmaceutical players. We expect this transaction to become an important landmark in the pharmaceutical industry M&A in India and Clifford Chance is proud to have represented its long standing client Bayer on this transaction in India which is a very important market for Bayer."
