Clifford Chance wins Golden Hourglass Innovation Award 2020
Clifford Chance Amsterdam has been awarded the prestigious Gouden Zandloper Innovation (Legal Innovation Golden Hourglass) 2020 at the Gouden Zandlopers, the leading legal awards in The Netherlands, with the legal tool CC Dr@ft – Corporate Structuring. "Clifford Chance has automated labor-intensive work and was even able to improve internal processes at customers", said the jury about CC Dr@ft – Corporate Structuring.
CC Dr@ft – Corporate Structuring enables clients to easily generate notarial documents for corporate restructurings themselves from their desktop, with Clifford Chance's templates linked to the corporate content of the relevant client. As soon as a client has provided all required information via an online questionnaire in which the necessary compliance questions have been built in, the notary will automatically receive a message. The notarial team takes over the documents and notarial deeds digitally from the client for the regular control work, after which the deeds can be executed. The result: up to 90%-time savings for both client and civil-law notary. Partner Mark-Jan Arends, also civil-law notary and co-creator of this tool: "We are reversing our services: not the notary, but the client takes the lead – based on our legal tool. Our notarial team is only engaged when the documentation is complete, making the process much more efficient. Moreover, this tool enables us to complete transactions remotely. This aspect has become even more relevant due to the corona outbreak, now that we are all working from home".

"Clifford Chance heeft arbeidsintensief bulkwerk geautomatiseerd en weet zo zelfs interne processen bij klanten te verbeteren", aldus de jury over CC Dr@ft - Corporate Structuring.
CC Dr@ft - Corporate Structuring maakt mogelijk dat cliënten eenvoudig zelf notariële documenten voor een corporate herstructurering kunnen genereren vanaf hun desktop, waarbij de templates van Clifford Chance zijn gelinkt met de corporate content van de desbetreffende cliënt. Zodra een cliënt alle vereiste informatie heeft verstrekt via een online questionnaire waarin de nodige compliance vragen zijn ingebouwd, ontvangt de notaris automatisch een bericht. Het notariële team neemt de stukken en notariële akten digitaal van de klant over voor het reguliere controlewerk, waarna de akten gepasseerd kunnen worden. Het resultaat: tot 90% tijdwinst voor cliënt én notaris. Partner Mark-Jan Arends, tevens notaris en medebedenker van deze tool: "We draaien onze dienstverlening om: niet de notaris, maar de klant neemt het voortouw- op basis van onze legal tool. Ons notarieel team wordt pas ingeschakeld als de documentatie compleet is, waardoor het proces veel efficiënter verloopt. Bovendien stelt deze tool ons in staat om op afstand transacties af te ronden. Dit aspect is door de corona-uitbraak, nu we massaal thuiswerken, nog relevanter geworden".
